Marbella Moonlight Martinis, presented by Pelican Real Estate & Development Company Inc., is a large eclectic gathering with intimate cocktail party appeal. This "by the light of the moon" martini party, features full bars, martini samplings, fabulous gourmet hors d'oeuvres, dancing and live music from Jones & Company as well as other artists. Silent and live auctions will entice guests with unique shopping opportunities, as well as a cystic fibrosis update from Nemours CF Care Center Director, Dr. Kevin Maupin. This year's event will take place at Marbella, the light of Destin's Harbor, luxury harborside residences with a Tuscan flare.

The first Moonlight Martinis was launched several years ago in Jacksonville as a fun, upscale evening beach event. Over the past four years Moonlight Martinis events have raised more than $400,000 for cystic fibrosis research. It is expected that Moonlight Martinis events in Panama City, Destin and Jacksonville will raise close to $250,000 this fall. |

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease affecting approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was established in 1955 to assure the development of a means to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for those afflicted with the disease. When the Foundation began, few children with CF lived to attend elementary school. Today, the median age of survival for a person with CF is 36.8 years. Researchers are now working on correcting the basic defect that causes cystic fibrosis and believe development of these treatments can eventually put an end of the cascading effects on the disease. |
