GREAT STRIDES EVENT OVERVIEW

GREAT STRIDES: Taking Steps to Cure Cystic Fibrosis is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s single largest fundraiser of the year. The 19th annual 6.2-mile walk-a-thon will take place nationwide in May 2007. Locally, the greater Jacksonville office of CFF will host 10 walk sites within the Jacksonville and South Georgia areas as well as locations scattered across the Florida Panhandle. In 2006, more than 800 communities throughout the nation joined together and raised more than $30 million for cystic fibrosis research. Within our 10 walk sites, in the Northeast Florida/Southeast Georgia and the Panhandle, several hundred walkers joined together to raise over $320,000. Our goal for 2007 is $380,000!

Great Strides consists of teams and individuals who enjoy the morning with family, friends and co-workers. Each GREAT STRIDES location is unique in what they have to offer, from the beautiful scenery, to the entertainment and food. The day will start off at check-in where walkers turn in their pre-collected donations and enjoy a light breakfast. All walkers who raise at least $100 receive an official Team CF T-shirt. The walk begins at 9 a.m. and walkers will stroll through downtown Pensacola. At the conclusion of the event, participants are encouraged to stay and enjoy lunch.

Because of the broad demographics of participants, GREAT STRIDES offers a blanket exposure for sponsors and unlimited growth for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The event benefits everyone. Participants enjoy a day of pleasant exercise and sponsors benefit from great exposure as we take one step closer to finding a cure for the 30,000 children and adults affected by cystic fibrosis.
